Charges filed against Mizzou DE Tre Williams amid conflicting reports

Mizzou defensive end Tre Williams is facing criminal charges after all.

An assistant prosecutor said Tuesday that the previously considered second degree domestic assault charge would not be pursued.

However, Boone County Prosecutor Dan Knight said Wednesday afternoon that the case against Williams has not been dismissed.

“The case involving Tre Williams has not been dismissed,” Knight said. “Because this is a pending case, no further comment will be made by this office at this time.”

Online court records show the charge was filed, and that Williams is set to appear in court on January 2nd, two days after the Mizzou Tigers play in the Liberty Bowl.

Williams is still suspended from the Mizzou Football team.
