A man in prison over the killing of a Columbia sports reporter filed another appeal this week.
Charles Erickson now says he did not help Ryan Ferguson kill Daily Tribune sports editor Kent Heitholt in 2001. His testimony got he and Ferguson convicted in 2004.
But Ferguson’s conviction and life sentence were vacated in 2013. He says Erickson should go free too.
Erickson is in the middle of a 25-year sentence. His most recent appeal was rejected in 2019.
