Columbia-based MU Health says the opening of a new entrance for its children’s emergency room at University Hospital is part of the transition to a centralized hospital campus.
The new entrance is on the hospital’s west side, and designated parking is provided in the Tiger Avenue parking structure.
MU Health is currently building a $232-million new Children’s Hospital, on the main campus. It is near Hitt and Lake streets, and is expected to open in 2024. The new children’s hospital is aimed at helping the system create one convenient and centralized location for all hospital services.
The hospital’s recently-opened children’s emergency room is solely dedicated to children with children-specific care teams, equipment and décor.
