City council tables vote over new downtown Columbia hotel parking

Columbia’s city council is still considering where visitors for a new downtown hotel should park.

Members pushed back a vote Monday night over allowing the prospective hotel to reserve parking spots in a nearby garage on Tenth and Cherry Streets. Supporters say other hotels have made similar deals in the past. Opponents argue there won’t be enough spots left for the general public. The vote will now take place Aug. 16.

Members did approve a spot for the Greyhound bus line to pick up and drop off passengers at the Wabash bus station. Greyhounds makes daily trips to and from Kansas City and Saint Louis.
