Jefferson City’s government offices will be closed on both Thanksgiving Day and Friday, to observe the Thanksgiving holiday.

Jefftran will not operate either day and parking meters will not be enforced.

Mayor Carrie Tergin says trash collector Republic Services will be closed, and trash will not be picked up on Thanksgiving Day. It will be delayed one day for the rest of the week, which means Saturday will be the final pickup day.

The announcement comes after Governor Parson announced that most state offices will be closed on both days, to give state employees more time to spend with their families during the holiday. More than 14,000 state employees work in Jefferson City, making state government the town’s largest employer.
