The city of Columbia’s parks and recreation department is planning for new a trail in the easement of its COLT railroad on the north side of the city. Construction of the trail from Rogers Street near the Columbia College campus north to Brown Station Park is budgeted for $2.85 million dollars, but not until 2030 and 2031. Parks and Rec staff reported to the city council Monday that planning for the trail is already underway because of several related projects including replacement of the COLT bridge over I-70, the development of the nearby North Village Park, and roadway improvements to Route B and the Business Loop.
