Will Renz Lake ever be a lake again?

A group of homeowners have been approved to take over the drained lake south of Jefferson City. Back in 2009, Cole County took over the lake after the dam failed.

Western District Commissioner Kris Scheperle says the laws about what the area could become are pretty strict.

“There’s lots of lakes with lots of dams all over Cole County, and this was just one occurence.”

Several homeowners sued the original owner who hadn’t kept the dam in good condition, prompting the draining of the lake.
