Cole County Commission votes to break up with JC Chamber

Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Randy Allen saw the Cole County Commission break ties with his group this week. Despite the loss of more than $150,000 a year, Allen says don’t look for staff cuts any time soon.

“We hope our board and executive committee will approve a budget in the next couple months for 2019 that will keep the program in place,” Allen says. “Obviously, we’re going to work with the commission as we move forward because they’re an integral part of what we do in Cole County.”

Allen says their economic development agreement with the city has been renewed for 2019. That deal is worth about $185,000.

“It’s a positive relationship we have working with our local chamber of commerce,” Jefferson City Mayor Carrie Tergin says.
