Cole County Health Department says no signs yet of coronavirus in mid-Missouri

The Cole County Health Department is taking the lead on the off-chance that the coronavirus shows up in central Missouri.

Chesney Schulte said her agency is keeping first responders up to date on the threat.

“There’s ongoing discussions about potential threats [and] what people would do in those situations,” said Schulte. “Everybody is always staying up to date on the newest and latest.”

But the actual flu is what has hit Cole County the hardest. Schulte said they’ve already confirmed 929 cases of the ‘bug.’ Most of them are Influenza B.

  1. When and if the coronavirus appears in Mid-Missouri, will the health department issue daily quarantine reports of the quarantine process and where will the victims of the virus be quarantined? Will it be at a local hospital and what are the possibilities of the coronavirus victims be quarantined? Will it be a hospital quarantine or a special facility for quarantine since the virus has been tentatively shown to be spread from person to person and what are the symptoms of the active virus?
