Scammers are trying to use COVID-19 as an excuse to hit your pocketbook.
Cole County Prosecutor Locke Thompson says be wary about everything from fake charities to people asking you to pay upfront for someone’s medical care.
“Anyone who calls trying to tell you something about a stimulus check, pretty good indication right off the bat that is not a legitimate phone call.”
Thompson adds be wary of calls trying to sell you a medical treatment or vaccine.
