Cole County to follow statewide stay-at-home order, end local one

Where do you think the majority of Cole County COVID-19 positives came from?

“Early on, we were seeing more of the travel-related cases, and then we were identifying close contact spread so a lot of their spouses maybe tested positive or [their] friends,” said Chezney Schulte with the Cole County Health Department.

Schulte said, just like in other areas, those initial cases began to spread.

“Many of the cases that have happened after that have been community spread, meaning that we can’t locate a known transmission point,” said Schulte.

Schulte said health officials are encouraged by the low number of confirmed cases here.

Cole County officials said on Tuesday they will let the local stay-at-home order expire on Apr. 25. They will follow the state’s order after that, which is in effect until May 4.
