Columbia armed robberies connected to online deals

The Columbia Police Department is putting out another reminder to be safe when trying to finish off deals you’ve made online.

Officers worked two armed robberies in town on Tuesday where victims thought they were picking up Xbox gaming systems they bought on Facebook Marketplace. They got robbed at gunpoint instead.

CPD says you can use the department’s lobby downtown at Sixth and Walnut anytime as a safe meeting place to seal a deal.
