Members of Columbia’s airport advisory board will be at Columbia Regional Airport (COU) this afternoon to tour the $23-million new terminal that’s under construction.
The new terminal is set to open this summer, and its main funding source is a hotel tax approved by Columbia voters in 2016.
Mayor Brian Treece notes the new terminal will be 52,000 square feet, compared to the current 16,000 square feet facility. COU’s current terminal was built in 1968.
More than 100 people turned out in December for COU’s beam-signing ceremony.
