Now that Columbia Public Schools plans to start the year with online-only classes for most kids, some families may be looking for a safe place to send them.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbia is starting a learning pod on Sept. 14. Executive Director Valerie Livingston says it will be an all-day program, with fun stuff to do around classes.
“Basically what we’re doing is just supporting those kids that are already 100% signed up to be virtual-learning students, but giving those families an opportunity to put them in a more appropriate learning environment.”
Livingston says on Wake Up Columbia it will cost 150 dollars a week, and the organization hopes to serve 110 kids. The Boys and Girls Club is taking donations to make the program available to needy families.
