Columbia businessman running for mayor could raise more than $200,000 by April

Columbia businessman Blair “Murph” Murphy is raising money like never seen before in a Columbia municipal election.

That’s according to 939 the Eagle’s Mike Murphy, who publishes Comobuz-dot-com. Mike reports Blair Murphy, the co-owner of Johnston Paint and Decorating on Buttonwood, reports contributions totaling more than $182,000 through February 22. Blair Murphy reports donations from 210 different contributors, which he says came from 277 people when you count husbands and wives on single contributions. Blair Murphy’s main campaign issue is public safety.

Comobuz reports Columbia Mayor Barbara Buffaloe has raised $26,000 through February 22. One of her main goals is competitive wages for Columbia city employees. Mayor Buffaloe has told 939 the Eagle that she’s worked to repair relationships between city staff, the council and the community.

Mayoral candidate and journalism professor Tanya Heath has raised more than $2,000, according to Comobuz. Heath has several priorities, including public safety.
