A September sentencing date has been set in federal court in Jefferson City for a well-known Columbia businesswoman who pleaded guilty last year to federal wire fraud.

Court documents say 66-year-old Kat Cunningham of Rocheport embezzled payroll deposits from 24 Moresource clients. Sentencing is set for September 2.

With her 2025 guilty plea to wire fraud, federal prosecutors have dismissed the other 36 counts from 2023’s federal indictment. She was also accused of defrauding the Small Business Administration (SBA).

The Columbia Chamber of Commerce honored Cunningham as the Chamber’s 2016 outstanding citizen of the year.
