A former “Food Network” star who is now a chef instructor at the Columbia Area Career Center (CACC) is prepping 15 students before they head to Atlanta to compete for national championships.
Six of Brook Harlan’s students have won national championships over the years in culinary, along with three in baking. Mr. Harlan joined host Fred Parry in-studio this weekend on 939 the Eagle’s “CEO Roundtable” program. Mr. Harlan starred on the “Food Network” and was one of eight finalists on a popular show in 2005. He tells listeners that the competition in these national championships is intense. He also says about 80 CPS students each year either go into culinary work or to college for further preparation.
Mr. Harlan has worked at the old Glenn’s and at Columbia’s Katy Station and has also worked at the famous Commander’s Palace in New Orleans. You can hear Fred Parry’s full interview with Mr. Harlan here.
