Columbia church puts $430k toward patient medical bills

A Columbia church is helping a lot of hospital patients with their bills.

The Crossing says it has paid off all medical debt in mid-Missouri for anyone making less than twice the poverty rate.

The church put up $430,000, and an organization worked with collection agencies to purchase $43 million in medical debt.

The church says it hopes the help allows patients to be more generous toward others.
