Columbia city manager responds to critics after Executive Center changes

Columbia’s city manager responds to critics of local coronavirus restrictions on businesses.

The owners of the Holiday Inn Executive Center blamed those restrictions when they announced they gave up control of the business this week. The company that manages Margaritaville resort at the Lake of the Ozarks, Driftwood Hospitality Management, has taken over.

City Manager John Glascock said Wednesday that health officials spoke directly with Executive Center management 11 times. See his full response here.

Boone County Commissioner Fred Parry said in commentary on Facebook this week officials had not done that. Parry founded Inside Columbia Magazine, which is now owned by Zimmer Communications.
