Columbia council approves $485 million budget

The Columbia City Council on Monday night approved its budget for the next fiscal year.

The $485 million spending plan includes pay raises of at least 0.5% for almost all city employees. Fees for stormwater and some parks and recreation offerings are going up a little.

The council decided not to charge for parking at Columbia Regional Airport. That idea came up during budget talks as a way to raise money for public transit.
