The Columbia City Council on Tuesday night votes on changes to police chokehold policy.
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) now defines chokeholds and neck restraints as deadly force. Officers would only be able to use chokeholds as deadly force, and when it’s the only reasonable means available to stop the threat.
The city council on Tuesday night was also scheduled to get a COVID-19 updates from the local health director, and the head of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce.
