Columbia council considers community policing consultant

They could ask for more community involvement, when it comes to community policing.

Columbia City Council members on Monday night will vote on whether to hire a consultant to set up a public forum on law enforcement. The plan through Heart of Missouri United Way, New Chapter Coaching, and Menifield and Associates would cost up to $70,320.

A new committee would be asked to reach out to the public about community policing, officer safety, and the number of officers on the force.

  1. This is a waste of money(again). If you folks are not able to successfully respond to the needs of the community (good heavens Google Community Policing protocols), then perhaps it is time to step aside and let a committee composed of actual officers develop an effective program.
