Big changes may be coming in the way Columbia collects curbside trash.
The city council votes Monday night on whether to only pick up trash in city-provided bags. Pickup of bulky items would have to be scheduled in advance, and cost extra.
Solid waste workers would also get a raise of $5.00 an hour. Residential trash rates will also go up 85 cents, to $17.37 a month.
Columbia suspended curbside recycling pickup in July because of staffing issues. The council decided in August not to put a possible change to roll carts for trash on the November ballot.
