Columbia restaurants may get to use parking spots for extra seating soon. The city council started looking at the idea during Monday night’s meeting.
The temporary permits could not be for longer than 20 days at a time, then the restaurants would have to request an extension. The ordinance is only in effect through 2021. Neighboring businesses and residents would have the chance to object to the lost parking.
The council may vote to approve the idea at its Apr. 19 meeting.
