Columbia council has nine bidders for city manager search

The Columbia City Council is making the next steps to hire a city manager.

Council members will pick three or four of the nine search firms that submitted bids to help with the process. The council talked about the applications on Monday night during its work session.

Those top firms will interview with the council in early January. The final pick could come in about a month. The council expects the search to cost about $25,000.

Mike Matthes resigned as city manager in November.
