Columbia council looks at report on proposed city audit

The Columbia City Council on Monday night continues looking at a possible performance audit of its books.

Supporters say a review by the state auditor would build public confidence in how the city manages its money, and possibly find new ways to pay for more police officers.

According to a report submitted to the council, the audit would cost the city $500,000-$750,000, possibly more. It would take 2-3 years.
