Columbia council to consider Airbnb regulations

The Columbia City Council is set to talk more about regulations on short-term rentals like Airbnb.

There’s been lots of disagreement on the best way to do this for about two years. Councilman Matt Pitzer says it’s a balancing act between the people basically wanting to open up a hotel, and more considerate folks who occasionally rent out their place.

“Trying to figure out a way to sort of thread that needle, and it’s really hard because it just winds up infuriating a lot of people on both sides of it.”

Discussion about short-term rentals is on the city council meeting agenda for Tuesday night, but a decision could be put off to a later meeting.
