Firefighter hurt in north Columbia condo blaze

Columbia fire officials now say that north side condo fire on Thursday caused about $250,000 in damage.

Investigators report it started on a second floor deck, and burned through four units at Spencer’s Crest Condominiums off Saddlebrook Place near Range Line and Rain Forest Parkway starting at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

It’s not clear what started it, but it may have been a discarded cigarette.

One firefighter was hurt, but is already out of the hospital.
