Flu cases are surging across Boone County, according to the Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS).

They report 907 cases of influenza during the week of January 26 through February 1, which is the most recent CDC reporting week. It’s the highest weekly number that PHHS has on record, which goes back to 2004.

The Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services says the best way to reduce the risk of flu and complications is to get vaccinated. A walk-in flu clinic will take place this week at the department on West Worley. The clinic is this week from 8:30 am until 11:30 am and again from 1-6 pm. They’re also open Saturday from 9 am through noon.
