The city of Columbia is holding a hearing on Monday at 3 p.m. in city hall about a possible ban on certain types of drink specials.
Staffers have given the city council a report looking at not allowing big discounts on alcohol, or bottomless cups, or even ladies nights.
City manager John Glascock says crime does spike during prime drinking hours and roughly when the bars closed.
“Is this the solution to that problem? I don’t know. That’s something that we have to study,” Glascock said during this Wake Up Columbia interview.
Glascock says he hopes it does not lead to police officers having to spend a lot of time enforcing drink special standards.
