Boone County commissioners and other officials will be attending Wednesday’s 70th anniversary open house celebration of the Columbia Housing Authority (CHA).

Today’s open house is from 4-5 pm at CHA’s administration building on Switzler. The Columbia Housing Authority was established by city ordinance in 1956 and Dowell Naylor was CHA’s first executive director. CHA aims to provide safe, healthy and affordable housing for low-income families and individuals in Columbia and Boone County.

The Columbia Housing Authority currently serves about 2,000 households and about 4,000 residents.
