Columbia investment scammer sentenced to federal prison

A Columbia man who hustled investors out of more than a million dollars is going to federal prison for a year-and-a-half.

Billings Chapman, 79, got his sentence Thursday.

Prosecutors say Chapman lied to investors about how many banks had signed up for his bad check collection business. He used investor money on himself, and as a way to pay off other investors.
