Columbia man admits to role in 2017 bank robbery

A Columbia man admits to his role in a 2017 bank robbery.

Damien Powell, 26, pleaded guilty on Tuesday in federal court to robbing the Callaway Bank near St. Charles Road and I-70 on Apr. 27, 2017.

Prosecutors say he was one of the guys who put a gun to a teller’s head before taking some cash. The three suspects then got in a high-speed chase with a trooper, crashing near Kingdom City. The one-year-old son of one of the suspects, Larome Humphrey was also in the getaway car, but wasn’t hurt.

Humphrey and getaway driver Quinton Wilson have already pleaded guilty. Humphrey was sentenced in 2018 to ten years in federal prison with no parole.
