Columbia man sentenced to 15 years on gun, meth convictions

A Columbia man will spend the next 15 years in federal prison on gun and meth convictions.

Matthew Eads, 38, got his sentence on Thursday. He is not eligible for parole.

Eads pleaded guilty in January to possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime and other charges. He was already a convicted felon, so he was not allowed to even have a gun.

Eads was arrested in 2018 after his car ran a red light at Paris Rd. and Brown Station Rd. in Columbia and crashed into a pickup. Officers found drugs and guns in his car.
