Columbia man sentenced to nine years for heroin and gun possession

A Columbia man is heading to federal prison for nine years without parole.

Vernon Deandre Jordan was sentenced Tuesday afternoon for possessing heroin and illegally possessing a gun.  The 34-year-old was still on supervised release from a prior felony conviction when he pleaded guilty to the crime in January.

The sentence includes two years for violating the supervised release from a 2015 case.
