Columbia man who barricaded himself in home has lengthy criminal history

A Columbia man who barricaded himself inside a home on Dillon drive before surrendering on Tuesday has been in and out of prison for a decade.

939 the Eagle News has reviewed the criminal record and prison history of 29-year-old Jesse Jenkins, which shows he first entered prison in 2012 and has been released or paroled about four times.

He’ll likely have to return to prison now to complete his current sentences for receiving stolen property and for stealing. That’s in addition to new charges he’s facing: Columbia Police say he has several felony arrest warrants regarding theft investigations.

Jenkins surrendered without incident on Tuesday, after negotiating with police. The Columbia Police Department SWAT team established a perimeter around the house, when Jenkins barricaded himselfNo injuries are reported.
