The Columbia officer who hit and killed a four-year-old girl with her police SUV waives her initial arraignment scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
Andria Heese is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Gabriella Curry. No trial date has been set yet.
According to court documents, surveillance footage shows Gabriella was on the sidewalk at an access point for a vehicle at Battle High School when Heese drove over her in January 2019. The involuntary manslaughter charge came down in December, after an investigation by the Highway Patrol.
Gabriella’s parents reached a settlement with the city of Columbia for more than $3 million.
