Columbia officials planning another townhall on budget priorities on Wednesday

More than 15 Columbia residents turned out for Tuesday’s town hall meeting about the city’s budget priorities.

You have another opportunity Wednesday evening to hear the same presentation and provide input. Tonight’s meeting is from 6-8 at city hall. Columbia spokeswoman Sydney Olsen tells 939 the Eagle that 18 people attended Tuesday’s townhall.

Columbia currently has a $558-million budget, up $12-million from last year. City manager De’Carlon Seewood has said the budget emphasizes four main priorities: infrastructure, public safety, housing and social services. The budget contains about $46-million for 80 capital improvements, including $4.5-million for the Forum Boulevard project.
