Columbia OK’s new fire station

A new fire station on the east side of the city was approved by city council members after a public hearing at their meeting Monday night. The new station will be located at the corner of Route WW and El Chaparral directly across from an existing fire station operated by the Boone County Fire Protection District. The city will spend $2.5 million to renovate the old church at the location into a temporary fire station while a new permanent station is designed and built.
