The associate pastor of Columbia’s Broadway Christian church has been arrested for allegedly stealing “Murph for Mayor” signs on Friday evening near Scott Boulevard.

46-year-old Andrew Lawrence Taylor Peck has been released from the Boone County jail after posting a $500 bond, according to the Sheriff Department’s website.
939 the Eagle’s Mike Murphy, who publishes Comobuz, reports Peck is charged with misdemeanor stealing. Murphy quotes the Boone County Sheriff’s probable cause statement as saying Peck admits taking three big “Murph for Mayor” signs and two smaller ones in an area along Scott Boulevard.
Columbia mayoral candidate Blair Murphy, who is challenging Mayor Barbara Buffaloe on Tuesday, tells Comobuz that the associate pastor’s arrest is shocking and sad, adding that it’s in the hands of law enforcement. Journalism professor Tanya Heath is also running for mayor.
The election is Tuesday.
