Rev. James Gray tells 939 the Eagle that a big luncheon will take place today at Douglass Park on North Providence. The celebration/luncheon begins at 10 am, and everyone is invited. The U.S. Exercise Tiger Foundation plans an 11 am ceremony at the Boone County Courthouse plaza to honor our black U-S military veterans with medals and awards.

Adrian Plank (D-Columbia), city manager De’Carlon Seewood and numerous other officials are scheduled to participate. The U-S Exercise Tiger Foundation says a special “Missing Man” Army helmet will be ceremoniously placed by an active-duty Army soldier and black veteran on the granite memorial wall.

The Powerhouse annual Juneteenth event is scheduled to take place today from noon to 4 at Cosmo Park. And Saturday morning’s Juneteenth parade begins at 9 in downtown Columbia and will be presented by COMO Juneteenth.
