Columbia police officer injured in crash

A Columbia police car was part of a crash on the south side of town Sunday night.

A car was in the left-turn lane on Forum Boulevard at Scottson Way near Nifong at about 6:30 p.m. when another car hit it from behind. That knocked the first car into the path of the police vehicle going the other way on Forum.

The police officer and the person in the car that was hit from behind both went to the hospital, but should be ok. The driver of the car that apparently caused the accident was not hurt, but was given a citation.
