Columbia Police warning residents to keep their homes lit during Thanksgiving week, to prevent burglaries

Columbia Police are urging you to keep your exterior and interior lights on during Thanksgiving week, and to lock all of your doors and windows.

Police say there were 19 burglaries in Columbia during Thanksgiving week last year. Detectives are also asking you to stop delivery of mail and newspapers if you’re traveling during Thanksgiving week.

Columbia Police also remind residents to not announce your absence or travel on social media sites, which burglars can see.
