Columbia police have detained three men in connection with a shooting on Rice Road near Boyd Lane.
According to our news partner ABC 17 News, police were in the area finishing up another investigation around 5:30 p.m. A man had taken off from a routine traffic stop. Police found his car a short while later and, believing him to be armed, gave chase when he ran away. He was arrested.
While police finished gathering evidence, they observed shots fired near Boyd Lane. They made contact with the intended target of the shooting almost immediately, who gave them a suspect and vehicle description.
ABC 17 News reports police located the car quickly. They found three men and a gun inside. All three were taken into custody.
No word yet on the identity of the men involved.
