Columbia Public Works crews are currently prepping snow plows and equipment, ahead of the winter storm.

Columbia Utilities will have additional crews on standby for the potential of downed power lines: they warn that heavy snow and strong winds on power lines could cause sporadic power outages.

Columbia Public Works crews will focus first on priority routes, which are main routes. They include Broadway, Providence, Vandiver and Worley. The city maintains 1,418 total lane miles and 691 priority lane miles.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Kansas City says Columbia and Jefferson City are expected to receive 10-14 inches of snow, by Thursday evening.
