Top Columbia and Boone County business leaders and elected officials will meet tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri’s new food bank market on the Business Loop. Wednesday is also the day for the annual 939 the Eagle Commerce Bank one-for-one holiday food drive to benefit the food bank.

The Columbia Regional Economic Development Incorporated (REDI) board of directors will hold their monthly meeting Wednesday morning at 11:30 at the food bank market, which used to be a Moser’s grocery store.

Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri president Lindsay Lopez will welcome REDI to the food bank, which served 350 families on opening day in November. Ms. Lopez tells 939 the Eagle that hunger is real and is prevalent in our community, adding that more people than ever need help with food.

939 the Eagle and our Zimmer sister mid-Missouri radio stations will have personnel at Columbia Mall on Wednesday from 6 am to 6 pm. We’ll be teaming up again with the Columbia Professional Firefighters and with our news partner KMIZ to collect donations that day both outside the mall and inside the mall. You’ll also be able to donate Wednesday through the Missouri Pork Association’s phone bank.
