Columbia Regional Airport to provide flights to Charlotte

Columbia Regional Airport will start providing air service to Charlotte.

An $800,000 federal grant is making the flights possible.

“The grant award is the first step in negotiating an exciting new destination with American Airlines,” Economic Development Director for the City of Columbia Stacey Button said in a press release Friday. “We will now begin working with American to negotiate and enter into a revenue guarantee contract which will require council approval.”

The University of Missouri is kicking in $80,000 for service to the SEC hub. MoDot is committing $150,000, and Columbia Regional Airport is putting up $80,000 toward marketing.
