Columbia residents expressed their dissatisfaction with the city’s declining municipal services in a survey conducted this summer. The results of the survey were discussed by the city council at a work session on Monday. The city last did a similar survey in 2019. Since then, satisfaction ratings plummeted in nearly every major category, most significantly in public safety. CoMoBUZ.com reports that only 17% of Columbia residents said they were satisfied with the city’s efforts to prevent crime. In 2019, that number was more than 48%. In 2019, almost 78% of those surveyed rated the quality of city services good or excellent. That number this summer… down to 45.2% Mayor Barbara Buffaloe said the city council has gotten the message “loud and clear.”
