Columbia school board approves school resource officer deal

The Columbia Public Schools board approves a new school resource officer deal.

The district agreed on Monday night to pay $206,837 toward the four police officers. One will work at each high school, and the fourth cop will focus on two middle schools.

CPS will now pay 55 percent of any overtime for the officers, up from an even split with the city.

The Columbia City Council needs to approve the new deal at its meeting Oct. 21.
