Columbia received about five inches of snow Thursday evening and this (Friday) morning, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

NWS St. Louis meteorologist Jon Carney tells 939 the Eagle that 4.9 inches of snow fell at Columbia’s official observation station, much of it today.

The snow caused numerous traffic issues on I-70, especially last night, during overnight hours and this morning. Numerous tractor trailers jackknifed on I-70 in Columbia.

939 the Eagle listener Marie Miller-Bradshaw reports six to seven inches of snow in Harrisburg, while listener Kevin Wilhite reports seven inches in Sturgeon.

Listener Melissa Nichols reports six to eight inches of snow in Higbee, a small town in Randolph County. We’ve also heard from several Centralia listeners, who recorded eight inches of snow.
